7 The Pines
About The Area
From the doorstep, you’ll discover stunning coastal walks, a beautiful crescent-shaped beach, and a choice of welcoming pubs and a café. Runswick Bay is renowned for its wide sandy shoreline, fascinating rock pools, and excellent fossil-hunting opportunities, making it a favourite for families and nature lovers alike.
The most scenic way to reach the bay is on foot. Walk to the right of the Cliffemount Hotel, where a clearly marked footpath leads down through a peaceful wooded area. At the first house, turn left and follow the steps and pathway down through the village, opening out to charming cottages and lovely sea views as shown above.
Overlooking the bay, you’ll find a welcoming café and the atmospheric Royal Hotel, complete with a beer garden where you can relax and watch swimmers, paddle boarders, and boats out on the water. If you’re feeling adventurous, you’re very welcome to join in - there are plenty of wetsuits available to borrow in the lodge.
Runswick Bay village itself is a charming, higgledy-piggledy collection of cottages, each with its own character and beautifully kept gardens. It’s a wonderful place for a gentle wander, taking in the ever-changing sea views and coastal atmosphere.
Runswick Bay Holiday Park is on the Cleveland Way - 3 miles to Staithes and in the other direction 5 miles to Sandsend and 8 miles to Whitby. All these walks never disappoint! Turn right out of the electric gates and follow the drive to a footpath on the left of the last lodges. The Cleveland Way is straight ahead. Turn left for Staithes
There are ordinance survey maps and walking guides in the lodge if you want to explore further.

Things To Do

Well-behaved dogs are very welcome in the lodge.
Runswick Bay and Staithes beaches are dog-friendly throughout the year, making it easy to enjoy coastal walks with your four-legged companions.
Some nearby beaches do have seasonal restrictions, with designated no-dog areas during the summer months, so it’s worth checking local signage when you arrive.
